Ian Laing grew up in North Yorkshire, England building custom bicycle frames with his father, Collin Laing. He has been a metal craftsman for over 45 years.

3NC was started when Ian set out to create "The Trinity" out of three concrete nails, symbolize when Jesus Christ was nailed to the cross.
